House of Refuge Construction

Dear Faithful in Christ,
Denise and I are excited to share the construction progress on House of Refuge located in the mountainous region of Rizal Sur Philippines. This outreach has been a walk of faith and perseverance since day one! It's remoteness, difficulty in getting construction materials up the mountain , along with rainy weather, has made this very difficult. Carabao, similar to a water buffalo, were used to pull the lumber and beams up the mountain. To be honest, my heart went out to the carabao for the load they were having to bare. Many times, the carabao would slip and fall due to the steepness of the climb and slippery conditions. But, praise God, the lumber and beams reached the construction site.
House of Refuge facilities is a new Bukidnon Tribal Center being built in Rizal Sur, a remote community that will enable us to reach five barrios with the Gospel. The facility will provide a grammerschool, a church facility/conference center and dorms for boys and girls. Many in Rizal Sur have received Jesus and the need for a facility for them to be discipled is very important. The land to build House of Refuge was donated by one of converts and clearing the land began immediately.
Work began immediately clearing the land for the new facility to be built. It's all done by hand, no electricity or plumbing in the mountains.
The carabao are the workhorse to those living in the mountains. They are extremely strong and are well taken care of.
The beams are from very hard wood that bend nails very easily and are extremely heavy! About 50% of lumber needed for the boys dorm is at the construction site.
Post are in and now working on floor joist. Handsaws, shovels, hammers and a lot of manpower. Thank you for praying for this four man construction team. We appreciate their labor of love! Thank you friends for your prayer and support making this possible! To God be the glory!
